Ngorongoro Crater
The large Ngorongoro conservation area is a stunning place where humans and wildlife can share the place in harmony. Human skulls have been found next to old animal remains at the crater, so the crater is not only a biosphere reserve but also a cultural site.
The Crater is the result of the eruption and collapse of the Ngorongoro volcanic mountain presumably 2 million years ago. The eruption formed a big caldera that allows more than 3000 different species to thrive inside it, providing sufficient food and water throughout the whole year. Visitors have a big chance of seeing four out of the big 5 animals as well as hippos, with only leopard sightings being very rare.
The Conservation area offers a lot of attractions, like the shifting sand at the Olduvai area, Olduvai Gorge and Ndutu area in the southern part of Ngorongoro connected with the southern end of Serengeti national park.
